Cassiopeia A Supernova Remnant699 viewsCass A was the last (known) supernova in our galaxy and it should have been visible around 1670-80. Amazingly there are no historical records of any sightings. It's pretty faint now and don't try a hydrogen alpha filter as it was a helium star that exploded. David R
