Kelling Heath 2017

#1 Post by DRatledge » Tue Sep 19, 2017 8:21 am

All,
Have a great time at the Kelling Heath Star Party this week. Be thinking of you down there. The weather forecast looks good for you. Make sure you get some bargains - you can't take it with you!
Cheers
David

Keep safe

Friday Update: received email from Carl, they all went down by steam train to Sheringham. They had their usual fish and chips and walk along the prom. They managed to lose Gerald! Not sure if that was an accident or deliberate

Tomorrow is the big sales and bargains day when they will spend their hard earned cash!

Saturday Update
News in from Carl is they got some viewing in last night but the big story is that Gerald's 8 inch binocular telescope was sold. Some sort of tie in with Altair Astro and once on display with them they were sold in minutes. Bill Chamberlain set the arrangement with Altair up.

For anyone not familiar with the big binos see http://www.deep-sky.co.uk and select the ATM section and then kaizen 200mm binos. Another identical pair is available if interested.

Most are packing up this morning in lovely sunshine.
Just one scope bought yesterday - must be a record low!
Bill (and Keith?) staying tonight and he has the society's C6 plus an infinity camera set up ready.

Any suggestions for a caption?

Make that two, if we include the 50mm finder-scope which Cheryl got for the blue Dobsonian.
And unlike its predecessor, this finder gives a bright enough image that she could see the M51 Whirlpool Galaxy directly, and so get the main tube pointed at it within a few seconds!
