My attempt at the 11th July image. There should be one final image before closest approach. It is scheduled for transmission very early tomorrow morning - it's the fail safe image if the craft is lost passing Pluto.

More LORRI images from Saturday night have just been added - here are the stacks:
lorri_11jul_22h.png
Pluto: 3x 100ms images from 11-Jul, at a range of under 2 million miles

charon_11jul_22h.png
Charon: 2x 100ms images from 11-Jul, at a range of under 2 million miles

Charon seems to have a large dark "bruise", as well as some very bright areas.

Wow! It is mighty impressive - all those previous long range images didn't do Pluto justice!

It would appear the delay is releasing the "last" image is that it forms a stereo pair with the above one. Looks like we will need to get out our 3D glasses soon!

Last night's edition of The Sky At Night (their 750th episode!) was an hour-long special devoted to Pluto and the New Horizons mission:

They have also compiled a fascinating archive of planetary fly-bys, all hosted by the late Sir Patrick (going as far back as Mariner 6 in 1969!):
