Hi. John,
There's nothing that can be salvaged in that shot im afraid. I have to be honest, what ross had done had made it worse as it's lost its definition. A lesson to us all that you really can't processed jpegs in iris!!!

Point taken, I understand that polar alignment and focusing correctly are key and should the skies clear for long enough I'll be having a go at both once I clear the purchase of the alignment scope and mask - shouldn't be too hard given what else I want to buy :D

That said, I think what Ross has done is pretty amazing. I'm not suggesting that photoshop et al is the way to achieve results over a good foundation but the way he has removed the background 'pollution' colour and enhanced the others is still pretty good. If nothing else it spurred me on to look into software such as iris and stacking as Carl has done.

I look forward to learning - and mithering you guys.

Dean, I may be asking about loan kit!!!!
