Synscan AZ Goto - help please

#1 Post by JHarling » Tue Mar 11, 2014 7:05 pm

Bright star and two star alignment
When choosing either of these alignment methods and say the south west sky, the synscan only seems to offer one star. What am I doing wrong :?:

I have the correct location, time and daylight saving settings.

Any help would be appreciated.

John

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. The synscan will off filtered the brightest star in the south west to what it thinks are visible above the horizon.

So my advice would be is to select this star, allow the mount to slew then manually slew the scope with the hand controller (regardless of how far away the scope is from the star) and then re-sync.

I do have a goto all be it a Celestron, but very hard to explain without a being in front of the scope.
Celestron 11" Telescope
Eq6 Pro Mount
Eq5 Mount
EQ Mod
QHY5 Guide camera
Cannon 1000D SLR Camera

I choose to image with an 11" SCT Celestron in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard......
