I spotted this whistle/torch in Tesco with a single red LED. Cost, £2. I'd seen an article somewhere about an illuminator so having measured the aperture on the EQ5 polar scope, 32 mm, I picked up a couple of plumbing joints from B&Q for about £3. (Wednesday's discount day) A Tee connector, with one end to be cut off and a fitting with about 6" of straight pipe on it. The longest job, 20 minutes, was making the wooden plug to secure the cut down torch. I cut half the whistle off.
When I get a clear sky, I may find I need to mask the LED down
