Quick question, may sound like a daft one but its on my mind.......
Now I have the mount on the pier and last time I used it I managed to get it polar aligned, the next time I use it do I have to rotate the mount to get the correct orientation of the plough and realign ? Or is it like I thought that I should only have to polar align once ?
I know Polaris doesn't move a great deal throughout the year and now I'm going to be using guiding it shouldn't be an issue I guess but in true, " start as you mean to go on " fashion I thought I'd ask the question to make sure all works as it should

Unless you can devise some method of re-fitting your mount back onto the pier precisely (i.e. to within a few arc-seconds of) where you had it set last time, then you'll need to do some re-alignment.
That's why Keith leaves his mount permanently on the pier (and then covers it with umpteen layers of towels, blankets and waterproofs, to keep the weather out).

Dean,
Polaris moves but the north pole doesn't. Your mount is pointing at the north pole and unless a careless gardener bumps it then it will continue to do so.

As I thought, the mount has stayed on the pier since I aligned it and hasn't been touched, I intend to leave it this way permanently. This was the whole idea of setting the pier in the first place, to eliminate the process of polar alignment every time. Thanks for the replies
