Andy,
Which LX90 is it? Is it the 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain or the 90mm Maksutov?

According to Meade's website http://www.meade.com/lx90/specifications there are currently six LX90 models (SCT and ACF in 8", 10" and 12" variants), ranging from $1800 to $3300 new - so £300 is a suspiciously low price for one of these?

But if it's an ETX90, then this is a good starter 'scope (see http://www.boltonastro.org.uk/forums/vi ... p?f=6&t=12) but you'll soon find the 90mm aperture and the little fork-mount limiting - much better to go for a larger Maksutov or SCT on a sturdy EQ mount.
