Kelling Heath - getting in the mood

#1 Post by DRatledge » Wed Sep 14, 2016 7:38 am

Very much worth watching this video as it will certainly get you in the mood for the Equinox Star Party at Kelling Heath! Sure it's American but it captures the magic of what goes on at these events.

If you have never been to the Kelling Heath Star Party it will hopefully encourage you to come and enjoy the spectacle next year. Book early!

Yes, it's now less than a fortnight away! :D

I've been getting in the mood by checking out the kit which I'm planning to take down there. When I had it set up in the garden on Sunday I realised that I didn't have a red filter to fit the screen of my current laptop, nor the Nexus7 tablet which I use to control my PiGuider.

I tried a couple of Windows red-screen programs:
http://knightware.biz/knightvision/knightvision.htm which is fine for use in my garden, but probably still too bright for a blacked-out campsite, and
https://www.otelescope.com/index.php?/f ... ardred-12/ which is better,
but I think that I still prefer a red-gel filter, so I've just cut a fresh one to size.

And for the Android tablet, this seems to fit the bill:
