Anyone seen Comet Hartley?

Post by rwilkinson » Fri Oct 08, 2010 1:29 pm

I've managed to get a few images of it, see:

but it's very faint - has anyone managed to see it with binoculars?

The BAA Comet website (http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/~jds/) reckon that it's magnitude 6, and may be visible to the naked eye :?

Ross went out the following evening after our BAS meeting with a pair of 9x40 binos on a quite a clear night. I'm sure I did see it but with averted vision. Isn't it just typical that the night was clear following our viewing dissapointment the previous night which if it was clear would have been a wonderful experience for some of the people attending.
