Saturn in 2011

#1 Post by rwilkinson » Fri Mar 11, 2011 8:46 pm

I saw Saturn last night, for the first time this year.
Around 10pm it was low down in the SE, so not all that bright, but not "twinkling" like the nearby stars.
Grabbing my little refractor from the shed, I saw that the rings have certainly opened out since last year.

It will be rising earlier in the evenings as the weeks go by, so we'll see it better without needing to stay up till midnight!

And look out for the Observing and imaging Saturn presentation from Keith and myself at the 3-May meeting, which will include a "live" demonstration of webcam imaging and image-processing with RegiStax.
