Dwarf Planet Makemake

Post by DRatledge » Sun May 11, 2014 10:49 am

Below should be the orbit for dwarf planet Makemake (see gallery) - out beyond Pluto.
The surprise is it wasn't discovered until 2005. It must have been imaged many times previously but not spotted.

I've managed to collect two sets of FITS data from the BRT Galaxy Camera showing this dwarf planet's passage through the constellation Coma Berenices over the last week:

Blink animation showing Makemake on 25-May and 2-Jun 2014. 2x 2-min with C14 at f/5.3.
Processed with IRIS, IrfanView & unFREEz.
