Solar imaging

After checking out our solar kit for tomorrow's public demo at Moses Gate, I took the opportunity to grab an image too:

Having replaced the front of the webcam with the back of an old 35mm film canister, it slides into the eyepiece tube and reaches the prime focus

You need to shade the laptop screen whilst focussing and framing the image!

I took 100 frames of the solar disk, then increased the camera gain and took another 100 of the prominences. Then after stacking sharpening and overlaying in IRIS, I got this result:

Nice work Ross.

I have to invest in a solar scope. Solar imaging is fantastic and the results can be truly amazing.
