Canon launch Astronomical Camera EOS 60Da

#1 Post by DRatledge » Mon May 21, 2012 6:25 pm

Canon have launched a special version of their 60D camera aimed at astrophotographers, the 60Da. It is the successor to the earlier 20Da. Press release:
http://www.canon.co.uk/About_Us/Press_C ... _60Da.aspx

Note the first Key Feature quoted in the press release is incorrect! It does not have increased IR (infrared) sensitivity but increased sensitivity to deep red where the important hydrogen alpha emission is located. IR is still blocked.

Unlike astro modified cameras it still has a daylight white balance and can therefore be used as a normal camera as well. However, astro modified cameras will still probably perform better (for astronomy) and cost less!
