Show & Tell, 19-May

#1 Post by rwilkinson » Thu May 07, 2015 9:56 am

I should have three short presentations ready in time:
  • When the Moon got in the way...
  • Pi in the sky?
  • At last - a cure for aperture fever?
And Eb Swarbrick will tell us a little about his recent successes using the AstroTortilla (and maybe Regim) software, and show off his home-brew motor-focus projects too.

Any more offers?

Sounds good Ross.

In addition the dynamic duo are/have recorded some short videos of mirror making for the next binocular telescopes. They should cover hogging out, grinding, polishing and testing. If we can get them from Gerald's tablet on to my PC then hopefully they will play ok.

Still plenty of room/time for other items.

I can give an update on the 3D printed tracker mount I've been making, with a short video of the printer performing a bridge.

Also believe member Brian Weller will be bringing an old slide projector and some photos of comet Hale-Bopp to show us

I choose to image with an 11" SCT Celestron in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard......

I've been looking forward to that session for a while, and it even exceeded my expectations - it was really impressive to see the range of projects that our members have been working on, and particularly their inventive skills and mechanical ingenuity. 8-)

Certainly one of the better Show and Tell and we had a range of skills and images to look at. Well done to everyone who participated :)
