Just received via email:

Dear Secretary, Bolton Astronomical Society,

To commemorate International Space Week and the 80th Anniversary of the founding of the British Interplanetary Society the Northern network of members is hosting an all day meeting at the Hilton Hotel, York on the 5th October 2013.

You may be aware that the BIS is the oldest learned society concerned with the promotion of space exploration and has had as members Arthur C Clarke, Patrick Moore, Kenneth Gatland, Alan Bond and other pioneers and populisers of spaceflight.

The list of speakers has yet to be fixed but we will aim to cover varied aspects of space exploration past, present and future, both popular and technical.

We would appreciate you informing your members of this event and the existence of the group and if possible letting me know how many may attend.

I understand that some societies may have travel issues but it is our intention to vary future venues around the region.

Kind Regards
Mike Hall, FBIS
British Interplanetary Society North

But note that this clashes with the Equinox Star-camp at Kelling Heath.
