Sharples School is back on, weather Permitting. I have agreed that we would monitor the weather and have have agreed to confirm the party on the Tuesday / Wednesday as we are able to see the 3 Day Weather forecast. If we cancel it will move forward to the following Thursday, until we are able to attend.

Proposed Date: Thursday the 11th April
Venue: Sharples School
Parking: Next to the Science Lab at the School
Students / Teacher numbers: To be confiirmed
Time: To be confirimed

I will update this post as the information comes in.

We will be taking the BBT / Steps and therefore I will need some help getting it to and from the School.

I will be looking for a few volunteers to bring along some equipment, help out and assist in the Star Party. Let me know if your avaliable.

Cheers

Bill

I'll assist Bill, I've no telescope but binoculars which for anyone who doesn't know their way around the sky I'll be able to help. I've also DVDs from the Sky at Night magazine which I will give away to anyone who wants one.

Hi All
I will be in contact with the School during the week and hopefully be attending as agreed.
As the weather has been quite difficult to predict I’m suggesting that we make the final decision on Thursday morning and before I commit to Thursday I would like to know how many Members would be available to assist.

I will update the Post and if required confirm the status by email. If it’s called off we will do the same next week for Thursday 18th

See you Tuesday

Bill

Yes Bill, I can come along.

This Thursday sunset isn’t until just after 8pm, so we should get there then, aiming for an 8:30pm start?
The New Moon will be very low (just 8 degrees) at that time, but we’ll be able to see Jupiter as soon as the sky gets dark, and should be able to catch the comet (20 degrees up) from 9pm. M42 is down at 11 degrees by the time it’s properly dark at 9:30.

Bill,
I should be free to assist. If you can't find anyone a bit stronger/younger I can help with the BBT over your fence.
David
PS - we can ask who is coming on Tuesday.

The Star Party at Sharples on the 18th April has been cancelled and have recommended that we should wait till later in the year before planning any more events. The poor weather has not helped and now the nights are getting lighter it's too late for the Students

Thanks for all your support

Bill
