so Bill will contact the School on Monday to see what they think.

I understand that there are over 40 students enrolled for GCSE Astronomy between Sharples and Walkden schools, but surely they wouldn't all turn out on a freezing cold night?

The School has a couple of Maksutovs and a refractor on GoTo mounts, and an 8" Dobsonian of their own. Of course we'll be taking along the BIG Bolton Telescope plus whatever else you'd like to bring along.

So if we go ahead, who would be available to come along and help?

Just got word from the School:
Quote:
The weather forecast keeps changing it may be ok or it might be foggy. The issues are, arranging and cancelling at the last minute for pupils - always a problem.

Apparently they are currently doing a project on the Moon, and so would prefer a night when it's visible too. Of course the current lunar cycle will be over their Christmas break, so we'll be looking for a clear night in mid-January, soon after our meeting on the 15th.

Meanwhile, we'll explore other possibilities to get the BBT out in public...

Cheers Ross

I have offered the Thursdays of the 3rd and 11th of Jan to the Lancashire Wildlife Trust to see if we can get the BBT out before Feb
