Sky at Night magazine are only including public observing sessions in the January edition. Are we going to organise a separate one or should we use the existing meeting as an outdoor public event? The TV programmes appear to be on the week before (8/9/10 Jan).

I need to know by Thursday to beat the deadline for submissions so we need to decide quickly.

Well we already have an agenda for our 15-Jan meeting.
But as we've missed out on an earlier January meeting (due to the Bank Holiday on 1-Jan), it would be good to schedule a viewing session on Tue 8th, maybe at Turton Golf Club? (but remember that the weather could render the site inaccessible at that time of year).
It could be another great opportunity to get the BIG Bolton Telescope in action before we submit our report to the grant-awarding committee in February! ;)

But if you need to submit the information before we've had chance to plan the event, then something along the lines of "public viewing session in Bolton, see latest details at http://www.boltonastro.co.uk" should cover it?

Good idea Ross - keep our options open with a catch all announcement. With January weather the Ladybridge car park may be safest but we can sort something out later.

They won't do general announcements. Specific date and venue are required otherwise we won't get a mention.

The TV programmes are on 8th, 9th and 10th January so there is no point scheduling anything for those nights.

No matter - as we found with the Ian Morison lecture back in January, we can get adequate local publicity from The Bolton News and our own website.

I would expect that there will be links to events from the show's website. I've also been publicising our meetings on the SaN magazine's website so I can do the same with any extra events we organise.
