According to their web-site:
http://www.turtongolfclub.co.uk/
the address is:

Turton Golf Club
Wood End Farm
Bromley Cross
Bolton. BL7 9QD

But opening up Mike's GoogleMap in StreetView mode makes it all quite clear...

Follow the brown signs to The Last Drop Village, but rather than heading up their drive continue along Hospital Road until you see the sign for the Golf Club:

Then at the fork in the road take the country lane heading North:

and this takes you straight to the Golf Club:

Although there's no rain forecast, the different forecasters disagree about cloud conditions for tonight:

Just to say well done Mike.
The presentation was excellent just about right for some people wih little grounding in astronomy.
The weather of course chose this night not to play ball apart from 5 minutes outside at the end of the talk when Jupiter appeared fleetingly and 1 or 2 constellations were picked out using the laser pointer.

Hear, hear!
Yes, thanks to Mike for organising the event and fronting it for us.
And to all the BAS Members who came along to support, particularly those who brought kit along.

And the site looks to be a handy local venue for a star-party - it would be nice to go back there one clear night around the time of a New Moon, particularly if we have our BIG telescope by then.

Thanks for all the positive feed back, it certainly seemed to spark quite a bit of interest. I noticed quite a few of the members climbing out the fire escape(after the talk, not during :D ) to try and find Cassiopeia.

Also Big Thanks to everyone who turned up and supported us, it really helped. As I said to Ross afterward I wouldn't have done it with out everyone's support.

Also looking at the slides again to try and slim them down abit so we can use them for other events.

It certain seems like a good venue to hold either a star party or even one of our workshops. Possibly something to consider for Star Gazing live next year.

Thanks
