Yes Bill, please bring your table and chairs.
You're welcome to brnig your 'scope if you like, so long as it's "public-safe": they will be milling around, so we'll need to keep a close eye on it all day.
But your 12V battery-pack will be a useful back-up.

The Maplin store in question is on Manchester Road, just behind Bolton railway station and opposite the ruins of the old Technical College, and it's only about a mile North of the park.
We'll be leaving from there at 10am, or go direct to the park and meet us there anytime after 10:30.

I can meet you guys there at 1100 and be there until 1600. Have you managed to sort out the folding tables? Weather is looking promising for tomorrow, but we all know how fast the weather can change. I'll check back later for any further updates.

Ross

Got the car loaded up, it's a home made filter probably not suitable for a public event but will bring it just in case.

2 tables 1200 x 600
2 folding chairs
Battery pack on charge

See you at Maplins

Although it's cloudy at the moment, the forecast is that we'll need our sun-cream by lunchtime:

Well, what a brilliant day! Just as forecast, the clouds disappeared and left us with a perfect day for solar viewing. And even though there wasn't much sunspot activity on the visible disk, we were treated to some spectacular prominences.
After a quiet morning, the show really got going after lunch, and hundreds of visitors had a look through our 'scopes - and we even managed to give away all the old magazines (well done Carl!).
