There is an interesting programme on Quest Ch37 tonight at 11pm. "How the Universe works" looking at volcanoes on Venus.

During the recent Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, Prof. Sophie Scott made a number of references to the 1977 lecture series presented by Carl Sagan.

I remember enjoying these at the time, and was delighted to find that they can be viewed on Vimeo, via the RIGB web-site:

These were recorded just after the Viking landings on Mars, but before either Voyager probe had reached Jupiter - so they are now a fascinating snapshot of that time, and I found it staggering to look back and consider how much we've learned in the last 40 years!
