So far so good

#1 Post by cstone » Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:19 pm

Happy New Year everyone!

On 7 Jan 2010 during the day my dad had gone on the roof off the observatory to remove the 12 inches of snow (thanks Dad) so I was then able to slide the roof off. I have to say everything came together.
  • Ross's LED reticule light for the finder scope is a definite must have!!!
Brian finder scope mount worked a treat. Not as shaky as the one provided for by the manufacturer
DSLR cable (provided for by Ross) worked
Using C2A I commanded the 11" Celestron to find objects. I had to remotely manually move the scope the final few degrees but I did manage to get an image of M34

I was out for 2 hours and it was -6 and falling so I wasn't out for long.

I’m now waiting for my remote focuser to arrive and I need to do some cable management, fix a few leaks, create a procedures list, log book, make a batinov mask, drift alignment, try and hook up a USB Joy Pad and a better way of powering the dew heater.

But so far a good start to the New Year for the observatory :D
Celestron 11" Telescope
Eq6 Pro Mount
Eq5 Mount
EQ Mod
QHY5 Guide camera
Cannon 1000D SLR Camera

I choose to image with an 11" SCT Celestron in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard......
