Post subject: Stellarium issue on Mac
PostPosted: Sat Feb 09, 2013 1:43 pm
Hi folks,

After the recent event I have decided to try and download Stellarium on my Mac as it seems like a really good programme however I seem to be having an issue and was wondering whether anyone else has had a similar issue or know how to get around it. I've attached an image of the issue I'm having. I have looked on Google etc but can't seem to find any info about it so any help would be really appreciated!

I'm using a MacBook Pro on OSX 10.6.8

Thanks!

I don't have a Mac (a few member do) but you could try downgrading to an older version.

But also if you fast forward the time do any stars or objects appear.

I choose to image with an 11" SCT Celestron in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard......

I was running and older version but I've just downloaded the latest version and installed it on my Mac and it seems to be working correctly.

I suspect yours may be an issue with the background landscape image as the overlays look to be be displaying correctly on your screenshot, the information bar at the bottom shows correctly as does the south indicator "S" in the middle of your screen.

Try moving your mouse towards the bottom left corner. The menu bar should pop out from the left side of the screen. Come up to the Sky and Viewing options and click on that, F4 is the shortcut key. This should bring up the view overlay in the middle of the screen, click on the Landscape tab and pick a different landscape to use. Give a few of them a try and see if any display correctly. I've just looked at the other landscapes and Saturn looks a little like the one you've shown.

Whilst your there also click on the Sky tab, and try un-clicking the show atmosphere option to see if that improves things

Also does yours stay the same when you advance time through the night ? (use the Fast Forward button in the play controls at the bottom, they pop up when you mouse over the information bar)

If not I would uninstall, download the dmg again and try a reinstall.
