Post subject:  Hi

Hi,my name is John, I joined last Tuesday night, and I'm a absolute beginner

I can't really say how I got interested in this, I've been looking on the NASA websites for quite a

few months and then clicking on various links which lead to astronomy.

I bought a scope 9 days ago but not had the chance to use it yet because of the weather.

I'm afraid I'll be giving some of you plenty of earache for advice on how to use my equipment.

ps.....found that tutorial last Tues very interesting on astrophotography

Hi John & welcome.
I've only been doin this since Jan.
It's a bit overwhelming at 1st, but fortunately, you're lumped in with the right group - there is boundless enthusiasm & patience from the experienced guys in the society.
So don't be shy in coming forward & there is no such thing as a daft question - I've tried them all lol
Cheers
Andy

Hi John

So the bad weather's down to you then :o

the bad weather is a common occurrence frequently linked to the purchase of a new scope. ;)

Welcome John, the others have said it all about the Society, very friendly and welcoming. Have a look around the Members Area there are plenty of useful presentations and tutorials there that you will find very useful. Its a great hobby especially when you actually get the chance to use your scope!

Hi John,

Welcome. I've not been a member that long myself and like the others have already mentioned, it's a great group. The tutorials are very informative and presented in a way that the novice can understand.

Hope that the weather clears soon so that you can use your scope for the first time. What equipment do you have?

Regards

Lee

Equipment= Skywatcher 130P goto mount with 12v or mains supply
2 X barlow + 10 & 25mm eyepiece
SPC800 flashed to 900 with adapter & IR filter
and pc to mount leads for pc control

I'm going to try to use my full HD camcorder for imaging to see if there is any difference between the webcam. I've got a adapter to fit to the eyepiece, I've been looking for some software for the pc that will run the camcorder mainly for a previewer instead of using the camcorder screen but not found anything that will recognise it. Camcorder as remote control to take video or stills which will be a big help and has sdhd card for about 1hr 20 mins of filming
