Hello From Carl

#1 Post by cstone » Wed Dec 23, 2009 9:12 pm

Hello I'm Carl from Bury and have been a member of the society for nearly four years. I've been interested in Astronomy and decided to purchase my first telescope three years ago.

My first scope was an EXPLORER-130PM 130mm (5.1") which I still own and has recently had its focal plane modified to allow prime-focus imaging with a DSLR. It started life on a EQ2 mount but I later purchased an EQ5 which I also use for DSLR imaging.

For the past two years I've been building an observatory in my back garden. Its a role off roof design (rather than a dome) and I purchased a NexStar 11" GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain from Keith, another member of the society, which is permanently mounted in the observatory. It has full go-to capability and even though it has based on a fork mount I do have the EQ wedge.

Hope you enjoy this web-site because I created it so please feel free to provide feedback
Celestron 11" Telescope
Eq6 Pro Mount
Eq5 Mount
EQ Mod
QHY5 Guide camera
Cannon 1000D SLR Camera

I choose to image with an 11" SCT Celestron in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard......

Hi Carl

Nice piece of equipment, 11" what a dream scope

Wonderful site, good content, well laid out and easy to use provided you don't keep forgetting the password.

As you know I'm very new to Astronomy and the site has been a wealth of information for me. I have put together a small web site mainly to learn about developing a site but manly for friends and family who have asked why have I not got a web site, I said because I have nothing to publish, well that has changed

One question. Do I need to approach the committee to include the Societies Web Site as a link?

Regards

Nope you are more than welcome to link to our site. If you email me the link to your site I'll add it to our links page, under Member Sites.
