Partial solar eclipse, Fri 20-Mar

Post by rwilkinson » Fri Mar 13, 2015 3:38 pm

For observers in Bolton, first contact should be around 8:28 am, at which time the Sun will be 18 degrees above the horizon. The maximum eclipse (when just under 90% of the Sun will be obscured) will be an hour later, with the Sun 26 degrees high:

The eclipse will end at around 10:41, by which time the Sun will have reached 32 degrees elevation.

Plans for a Society eclipse-viewing party will be confirmed at next Tuesday's meeting (17-Mar) and then posted in this Forum.

Probably not from there. But that is not where we are supposed to be! On coming through the security gate turn right (not left to where you show) into what is known as the quad - its a square area of tarmac.
