I forgot to mention at the end of last week's talk that Saturn is currently at opposition (on 15-Apr to be precise). This means that we are directly in line between it and the Sun, so it's lit full-on and at its brightest. It appears due South at midnight (=1am BST), but only gets to about 29 degrees above our horizon.
The ring-plane is now opening out again (having been edge-on to us a couple of years back), so it's becoming more spectacular.
I was just setting up to take some images of it last night, when the cloud-bank came over!
