Re: Sharples School Star Party March 2016

What a brilliant evening the sky's stayed clear for us and I lost count of the number of students and parents attended, some even brought their own equipment for us to help in setting them up. A big thanks to all the Members who took part in the Star Party. Hopefully you all go a look at the Observa...

Re: Observatory manager for Darwen?

Might be worth seeing what we can do to help, so perhaps a preliminary visit to see what they have and what skill level is needed to support the scope and usage.

I'm more than happy to go along is anyone else is interested?

Re: Jupiter imaging workshop on 1st March

Good point Ross

Well Orion should still be visible from the carpark before Jupiter appears, perhaps we could get the Atik Camera up and running on M42 or even M31 for anyone who is interested, this could be run in tandem with any workshop.

Re: Reflector Telescope

Well a break in the cloud, got the 150pds out I'm using a field flatterer and my 28mm produces a dark patch, the next one down in my collection is a 15mm, good views of the moon no darkening in the centre. I will see if I can get my hands on a 2" 20mm or nearest to see if my old eyes can cope :shock...

Re: Reflector Telescope

Thanks David never gave it a thought as I have used the 40 and 32 on my ED80
I will do the maths to see which eyepieces will work with a 8" Dob

Will have to wait for a clear night to test out which of my eyepieces will work with the 150pds

Once again thanks for the guidance

Re: Reflector Telescope

Thanks David Strange but now explained it makes sense, I was testing them out on the Moon and observing whilst there was a full Moon, and yes I was using a 32mm and 40mm eyepiece as I like the wide FOV. I will try a shorter length eyepiece next time I get the chance, hopefully I can work around the ...
