Zoom eyepieces are ok however I believe your better off getting individual eyepieces to suit your observing and perhaps a focal reducer as I believe your using a MAK127. To get an idea of what you can see is to use Stellarium and set up your Scope and try different focal length eyepieces in the Ocul...

Yes it was good to see the final stage, I did however not manage the see the third and final contact myself, perhaps next time ;)

What great afternoon.

This is a image taken at 13:07, I have altered the hue to bring out some of the detail. It was taken with the Societies Solar Scope and my Canon 600D using a x2 Barlow.
